The neonto MCP server registers 18 tools that an AI agent can call. This page lists them grouped by category, with their key parameters and file-access behavior.
For the workspace-confinement rules that apply to the file-touching tools, see MCP Security.
Validation
| Tool | Purpose | Key parameters | File access |
|---|
shacl_validation | Validate an RDF data file against a specific SHACL shapes file and return the full validation report (Turtle). | filePath (required), shapesPath (required) | Reads both files |
validate_turtle_syntax | Fast syntax check for Turtle/SHACL content; returns the triple count or a parse error with line/column. | filePath or content (mutually exclusive) | Reads file if filePath is given |
validate_yarrrml | Fast parse check for a YARRRML mapping. | filePath or content (mutually exclusive) | Reads file if filePath is given |
format_turtle | Format a Turtle/SHACL file or inline content the same way the editor's Format Document command does. Provide filePath to format in place, or content to get the formatted text back. | filePath or content (mutually exclusive) | Reads and overwrites filePath if given |
Query & data
| Tool | Purpose | Key parameters | File access |
|---|
sparql_query | Run a SELECT, CONSTRUCT, or ASK query against a local RDF file or a SPARQL endpoint. SELECT returns a Markdown table, CONSTRUCT returns Turtle, ASK returns a boolean. | query (required), endpointId (opt.), endpointUrl (opt.), rdfFilePath (opt.), outputFilePath (opt., CONSTRUCT only) | Reads rdfFilePath if given; writes outputFilePath if given |
discover_sparql_endpoints | List SPARQL endpoints configured in the workspace, with their opaque IDs for use with sparql_query. | none | None |
add_sparql_endpoint | Add a new SPARQL endpoint to the workspace configuration (prompts the user for confirmation). On success the endpoint is immediately available to sparql_query via the returned endpointId. | endpointUrl (required), username (opt.), password (opt.) | Writes to workspace config |
Vocabulary discovery
| Tool | Purpose | Key parameters | File access |
|---|
vocabulary_lookup | Look up an RDF vocabulary by term URI, prefix, or a single local file. Sources include loaded workspace files, SHACL/OWL metamodels, and Linked Open Vocabularies. | termUri (opt.), prefix (opt.), rdfFilePath (opt., not combinable with prefix) | Reads rdfFilePath if given |
list_vocabulary_domains | Step 1 of finding vocabularies for a topic: list available domains (Linked Open Vocabularies tags) with counts. | none | None |
vocabularies_for_domains | Step 2: given domain names, return matching vocabularies (prefix, title, description, namespace), optionally making them available in the workspace. | domains (required, string[]), loadIntoWorkspace (opt.) | None (makes vocabulary data available in the workspace when loadIntoWorkspace is set; does not write to the filesystem) |
Vocabulary discovery is deliberately two-step: call list_vocabulary_domains first to see the available topics, then pass the domain names you want to vocabularies_for_domains.
ETL
| Tool | Purpose | Key parameters | File access |
|---|
run_yarrrml | Execute a YARRRML mapping against its data sources and return the generated Turtle. | filePath (required), outputFilePath (opt.) | Reads mapping and its sources; writes outputFilePath if given |
yarrrml_inspect_source | Parse a CSV, JSON, or XML data file and return its field names with up to 5 sample rows. Use before writing a mapping. | filePath (required), iterator (opt.: JSONPath for JSON, XPath for XML, delimiter for CSV) | Reads file |
yarrrml_list_functions | List the grel/FnO transform functions supported by the RML engine (Morph-KGC), each with a paste-ready YARRRML snippet. | iri (opt., a single function name/IRI) | None |
Diagnostics
| Tool | Purpose | Key parameters | File access |
|---|
get_diagnostics | Return the live VS Code diagnostics for an RDF file — exactly what the Problems panel shows. | filePath (required) | Reads file (or reads back already-published diagnostics if the file is open) |
Agent guides
These no-parameter tools return concise, self-contained reference text so an agent can ground its output before writing or repairing a file.
| Tool | Purpose | Key parameters | File access |
|---|
turtle_syntax_guide | Concise Turtle syntax guide. | none | None |
shacl_shapes_guide | Concise SHACL shapes guide. | none | None |
sparql_basics_guide | Concise SPARQL basics guide. | none | None |
yarrrml_mapping_guide | Comprehensive YARRRML mapping guide. | none | None |
